California Coastal Living with a Napa Modern Farmhouse Twist
If you’ve been reading my blogs for a while now you’ll already know I am a professional interior designer and have a masters in architecture… well, 2024 is a big year in our house. We are completely renovating our home - eeeek! I’ll be sharing with you the reality of navigating extreme home renovations with two young kids… wish me luck 😬 This is going to be a real passion project for me and I can’t wait to bring you guys along with me! Here we are in Tahoe this summer… this photo gives me so much joy! The energy of this and the palette of tans, greens and blues is total goals with this project!
The Plans: what are we changing?🏡
We are an extremely outdoorsy family always adventuring, hiking, snowboarding, sailing or mountain biking, so the outdoors has been a huge inspiration for this project! We want to bring the outside-in and really create a seamless indoor outdoor living space.
We are expanding the kitchen & removing a wall to allow more space!
We are adding an extra bathroom downstairs (this was a priority for us having kids running around)
Upstairs: We are adding a guestroom and bath. The master bedroom (soon to be my second favorite room in the house 😉) will have a walk-in closet and full bathroom with his & her sinks… this is a DREAM for mama! 😍🥰
First Up… The Kitchen!
The first room I will be designing is our kitchen! Now being a mama we have to make sure that it is practical for everyday family life… but that doesn’t mean it can’t be beautiful! 😉
As many of you know, we are lucky enough to live on the water so with the kitchen backing on to the deck and being the heart of our home (and the place this mama seems to spend 90% of her time😂) we have decided to start here first.
Inspiration🏖️
My inspiration for the design is California Coastal Living with a Napa Modern Farmhouse Twist. Beautiful neutral tones to emulate sand, with, of course, pops of gorgeous blues and muted greens. I’m absolutely in love with the idea of having our dining sets in a seafoam green color, large wooden serving bowls & platters, maybe even brass hardware too. The interior designer in me is drooling as we speak at the idea of my new kitchen!
